My first venture into gardening in about 20 years has seen some wonderful bounty harvested this summer already. A full crop of white icicle radishes made a nice namasu salad with baby cucumbers and scallions one night, added to mixed green salads on a few other occasions and for hors d'oeuvres with sea salt and lemon. Lolla rossa, chicory and rainbow chard have done quite well for salad and cooking greens.
Tomatoes: Chef 3 - birds 2. Need to construct bird defenses now!
Dinner last week at The Plaza Café in Southampton was delicious, though the food service itself was a little slow. I had the Lobster Shepard’s Pie. In recent memory one of the only times I couldn’t finish my entrée.
